The No. 3 Corvette Racing team and driver Jan Magnussen are headed to one of the most adored circuits on the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship schedule – Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin’s Road America.
The reigning 2017 and 2018 IMSA GTLM champ will pilot the Corvette C7.R around the four-mile circuit alongside teammate Antonio Garcia.
While Magnussen has two class victories at Road America, in 2003 with David Brabham in American Le Mans Series competition and with Corvette Racing and Johnny O’Connell in 2008, he has never won with long-time teammate Antonio Garcia.
The Danish and Spanish combination will be looking to bounce back after a pair of disappointing results at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park and Lime Rock Park.
Despite the seventh place at CTMP and fifth at Lime Rock, the duo still sit third in the championship standings, 17 points out of the lead.
Road America should present a good opportunity for the No. 3 team to close the gap as Corvette Racing has more victories than any entrant in IMSA competition.
On-track action will kick off Friday at 11:15 AM Central time before Saturday’s qualifying at 1:00 PM.
Sunday’s two-hour, 40-minute race will be streamed live on the NBC Sports App and NBCSports.com beginning at 1:30 PM Central Time. The NBCSN broadcast of the IMSA Road Race Showcase will air at 5 PM Central.

Q: Sitting 17 back in points at this stage, what is the goal for Road America?
A: We usually have a really good car at Road America, so I think the goal is just to fight tooth and nail for every point we can this weekend. It’s been a tough few weeks, so I think we just need to get back in the championship fight. The goal is definitely to finish in front of both Porsche cars, but with the balance how it is right now, it’s going to take a really great performance on our part to make that happen. We’re definitely in for a hard-fought weekend!
Q: Everyone always seems so happy to go to Road America every year. What makes this place so special?
A: Everything! Road America is such an amazing track, I wouldn’t be opposed to adding more races to the schedule if they were all at Road America. It’s fast, the corners flow super well, but it’s still challenging.
It’s also the longest track we go to on the IMSA schedule, just over four miles, so it’ll be a big difference from the last race at Lime Rock! We did 182 laps in two hours and 40 minutes of Lime Rock, last year we only did 66 around Road America.
The other great thing about Road America is the fans. You see the same faces there year after year because the people in Wisconsin really love the sport and really care about IMSA racing. They’re some of the most knowledgeable fans we meet all season and I hope we can put on another good show for them!
Q: Kevin got back into the points during the crazy German Grand Prix, how happy is he to be back in the top 10?
A: I think that that finish was long overdue for him after such a long stretch of disappointments for the team. And what a crazy race! As a spectator, I think it was one of the most exciting races I’ve seen, you never knew what would happen next!
For Kevin, he started 12th and got as high as second and as low as 16th. An 8th place finish, and both cars in the
